What is Kirklees Skills

Kirklees Skills is a council-led campaign to create a high skilled economy in Kirklees by 2020.

To achieve this, in Kirklees we will need to upskill 49,000 people.

This will be achieved by:

Identifying the challenges and opportunities for Kirklees.
Creating a vision for Kirklees for skills.
Focusing on key sectors.
Engaging with businesses to understand their needs.
Promoting the importance of skills and training to local employers.
Helping employers find the right training opportunities for their business.

Businesses that invest in training are 2.5 times less likely to fail.

It is predicted by 2020 that 40% of all jobs will be at degree level or equivalent.
