The Kirklees Skills Vision

In 2008 Kirklees Council, along with local partners, developed a Labour Market and Skills Strategy which sets out a vision for Kirklees for the next 12 years.

The vision for Kirklees is to:

  • Develop the skills and aspirations of Kirklees’ residents to meet the requirements of a 21st century economy.
  • Provide better opportunities for all to up-skill and to improve productivity.
  • Inspire creativity and innovation by fully exploiting our diversity within a green economy.

This vision will be achieved by:

  • Developing high-level skills
  • Exploiting our strategic position within the Leeds City Region
  • Developing talent and opportunities in all communities
  • Developing sustainable skills
  • Public sector organisations aspiring to be the best and leading by example.

The Labour Market and Skills Board is the strategic body who is leading on this vision.
